Who can volunteer?
- In grades 7–12 OR the summer after graduation
- Finishing 6th grade? You can register for summer volunteering
- Live in Mason or Deerfield Township
- You (or a parent) have a Mason Public Library card
Why we do this
- This program helps you build job, communication, and customer service skills while helping the library.

What do teen volunteers do?
- help run children's programs
- prepare crafts
- set up and clean up for programs and book sales
- Summer Volunteers also shelve books and administer our summer reading registration and rewards
- Schoolyear Volunteer shifts are mostly on a weekday 3:30-5:30, Tuesday evenings, or during programs.
How do I register as a Teen Volunteer?
- Schoolyear Volunteers (August - May) register using a paper application available at the library.
- Summer Volunteers (June-early August) register online April 1st at 5:00p.m. The link will be available here. Registration fills within minutes! Summer Volunteers must also attend mandatory training in May.

Be reliable
Cancel at least 24 hours ahead so someone else can take your spot
Problems we track:
- Arriving late / leaving early
- Canceling <24 hours ahead
- No-shows or not checking in/out
- Using your phone in front of customers (this = immediate removal)
- Not following dress code
3 problems = warning
4 problems = removed from team for at least 3 months or rest of summer
phone use = no credit for the shift, immediate removal from team for rest of term
Dress code
- Public-facing shifts = Teen Volunteer shirt + khakis/jeans/pants (business casual)
- No leggings, joggers, sweats, shorts, or workout clothes
